Alpha Company Commander
Capt Gordon has served in the Army for 7 years. He was originally stationed at Ft Bragg. He was in Engineering School for 2 years at Ft Leavenworth. Capt. Gordon is from Clearwater, Florida and now living in Colorado Springs.
Capt Gordon talked about his 75 soldiers who go out everyday to clear the routes for everybody including Iraqis. Jim and I were with his unit on the convoy previously aired on the Nov 25th talk show. Check out the Nov 25th talk show page for more info.
Capt Gordon said his soldiers have found 47 of the most dangerous explosive devices that we have been hearing about in the news. Most are sure they are coming into Iraq from Iran. He talks about his soldier’s dedication to their job and their mission.
He talks about the Husky and Buffalo and the RG 31 we were with on the convoy with Alpha Company. He gives a good overview of progress in their area of Eastern Baghdad.

SFC Jason Lambert
2nd Platoon Sgt and Platoon Leader
SFC Lambert has served in the Army for 13 ½ years. He was born in Naperville, ILL and now lives in Colorado Springs. He has been stationed at Ft Benning, Ft Bragg, Korea, Anchorage, Alaska and he is now on Third Deployment to Iraq.
SFC Lambert is the 2nd Platoon SGT of a 24-man Platoon that we were out on the convoy with. He is also the Platoon Leader. He talks about his job in both these positions. He talks about their company finding more EFP’s (Explosively Formed Projectiles) in Baghdad than more other companies. He talks about their primary mission which is to keep the routes clear.
SFC Lambert and Capt Gordon both talk about care packages that come in from the VFW, American Legion and other support organizations; letters and drawings from kids in schools. “It is

Major Christopher Wendland
Executive Officer
2nd Battalion 17th Field Artillery Regiment
Major Wendland has served in the Army for 13 years. He is a graduate of West Point. He has served at Ft Riley, Ft Sills, Korea, 1 year in Germany, his first Iraq deployment then re assignment to Ft Carson in Colorado Springs and he is now back in Iraq. His family is in Colorado Springs.
Major Wendland as Executive Officer is Second in Command at the 2nd Battalion. He talks about what he does as XO and about what his Battalions mission is in Eastern Baghdad. He gives a great overview … a bigger picture…of progress in their 25 square mile area in which they serve.
He discusses about their goal is to step back as much as possible and watch the Iraqis doing a great job taking charge of their own areas. He demonstrates clear progress in Iraq. He also talks about the youth center and involving the youth in soccer. He talks about so much more!

Captain Steve Simmons
Capt Simmons has served in the Army for 4 years. This is his second deployment to Iraq. His first deployment was in Ramadi. He is Effects Coordinator. He works with the Battalion Commander when goes out to meet Iraqis.
Capt Simmons talks about economic development projects and the work that they do with local Iraqi Councils.
He talks about the important and key role of their soldiers who go out every day on route clearance convoys looking for IED’s and EFP’s and also taking insurgents off of the streets making life not only safer for our troops and civilians but also for the Iraqis.
His wife is at Ft Carson and works in Colorado Springs.

Captain Steve Simmons

1LT Robyn Jacobs
Civil Operations Maintenance Officer
1LT Jacobs was commissioned as an Officer in 2005 from Western Illinois University. She works directly with Iraqis on projects in their communities such as completing one of the largest Youth Centers in Baghdad, Water Treatment and Sewage Treatment Plants and Trash Cleanup projects.
1LT Jacobs works with local Iraqi leaders and District Level Leaders. They are currently working on a large Trash Cleanup program.
Sept 1, 2007 was her and her husbands first Wedding Anniversary. She says hello to him and her family.
