www.fandiescandy.com/index.html
In 2003, Owner Debi Moore had the desire to fill a need she saw in her community by opening a candy store. For 4 years, she waited to see if anyone else would open one, while researching the qualities and aspects of opening her own. In January of 2007, she decided she was done waiting, and decided to get busy and build a business! The reality of that dream is called Fandies Candy Company. Debi Moore's desire is to provide a place where kids of ALL ages can enjoy, while teaching her own children the process of building and owning their own businesses. She also wants to equip her employees with the tools needed to be successful themselves.
The name "FANDIES CANDY COMPANY" was created while trying to come up with a name that would look old fashioned but also represent "FUN CANDY", thus the discovery of the name... Fun Candy = Fandy!
The point of owning a business should never just be about how the community can serve the business, but also about how the business can serve its community. Through fund-raisers and projects like our "Treats for our Troops", Fandies is proactive in seeing this concept come to life. Thank you to those who have shown great support!!
"WE THANK ALL OF THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO GIVE OF THEMSELVES DAILY TO PROTECT OUR GREAT COUNTRY."
Talking With Heroes will talk with Debi Moore and others (see below) as well as High School Students who will be packaging up Candy to send to Ft Carson Soldiers. We will all hear who they are and why they are sending care packages to our troops.

Megan Yarberry
Director of the Blossom Pageant
The Canon City Music & Blossom Festival Pageant is celebrating it 63rd year. Our Pageant is in existence solely to promote the Music & Blossom Festival. Our mission is to teach young women the values of pageantry, and to give our time honored festival royalty to reign over our festivities. We believe that pageantry teaches women of all ages many things that are not taught in most schools. The Blossom Pageant offers much more than a rhinestone tiara, sash, and a title. It allows them to practice hands on interview skills necessary for their future, gives them the opportunity to work on their public speaking abilities, teaches them to be comfortable in their own skin by boosting self-confidence, and makes memories to last a lifetime.

Treating Our Troops
As the winter drags on, the troops in the Middle East may become weary because they have months to go before they go home.
In the meantime, with the help of the community, they will surely be cheered up when the soldiers receive unexpected gifts from the Fremont County residents this spring.
This year, the Blossom Queen candidates have teamed with Debi Moore, of Fandies Candy Company, to work on the ongoing “Treats for Our Troops” project.
“The candidates will go to businesses, family and friends to raise funds for the ‘Treats for our Troops’ project,” Moore said.
After collecting the funds, the candidates will shop for the treats, package the boxes, decorate them and add personal notes inside.
The boxes that are ready to be shipped will be displayed at the Blossom Pageant. A prize package will be presented to the candidate who raises the most money for candies.
“This is an ongoing effort for our troops,” Moore said. “The first one we did was amazing. The response from the soldiers was really neat. We got so many announcements and cards.”
The deadline for the project is March 7, she said.
As part of the pageant this year, director Megan Yarberry will conduct a “Queens for Kindness” campaign, where candidates, past queens and enthusiasts will perform random acts of kindness for those in need.
“We’re doing ‘Treats for Our Troops’ and the girls also made Valentine cards” for the residents at Progressive Care Center, Yarberry said.
These candidates will have an opportunity to get involved in the community and meet people, which helps them with poise and self confidence.
The project culminates with the Cañon City Music and Blossom Pageant, which has been scheduled March 22 in the Cañon City High School at 1313 College Ave.
