U.S. Navy submarine officer Nader Elguindi
Author of: My Decision to Live

Nader Elguindi, an American Hero Gives Back to the Men and Women Recovering at Walter Reed. After miraculously surviving a horrific accident that severed both of his legs, causing him to permanently lose his right foot, U.S. Navy submarine officer Nader Elguindi could have decided to sign the retirement papers offered to him. In fact, the nuclear engineering program that Nader was a part of is so restrictive, many thought it would impossible for him to stay on active duty. But, as Nader reveals in his inspirational new release, My Decision to Live, he defied the odds—by continuing his quest to earn his submarine qualifications (the coveted Dolphins) and becoming the first officer with a prosthetic to do so.

Nader explains: “I knew that earning my Dolphins would finally make me whole. And that feeling would stay with me for the rest of my life.”

However, despite Nader’s unparalleled achievement, the Physical Evaluation Board determined he was unfit to continue serving on active duty. Discouraged but not deterred, Nader began his own information technology company from nothing but his personal savings. Nader’s story comes full circle ten years after his tragic accident, when he wins one of the largest small business contracts in history from the Office of Naval Research and gets to work again, at last, with his beloved Navy.

His struggles in launching his own company—and how lessons learned in the Navy helped him prevail. Today Nader runs a multi-million dollar consulting firm, serves as a peer volunteer at Walter Reed Medical Center, and is a motivational speaker before sold-out crowds.

ALL PROCEEDS FROM MY DECISION TO LIVE WILL GO TO SUPPORT THE BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN RECOVERING AT WALTER REED ARMY MEDICAL CENTER.

Tina LePage

To launch the ‘Month of the Military Child’ Arts & Crafts and ScrapBooking Extravaganza, Connect And Join needed a great location and people who love being creative.  Cord Camera was a perfect fit!  Connect And Join founder, Linda Dennis, met with Tina and thought that her store would be the best location to launch the month long project.

Tina is currently the Scrapbook Manager at the Cord Scrapbook Studio in Plainfield, IN, which is located about 15 minutes west of downtown Indianapolis on US 40.

In addition to retail management, Tina has an extensive background in event management.  She was the Vice President of The Promotion Company in Indianapolis for 12 years where she managed automotive events, motorsports, art events and other family parades and festivals.  Tina was also with International Speedway Corporation in Daytona Beach, Florida for two years as their Event Producer and Consultant.

Linda Dennis, Founder of Connect And Join

www.connectandjoin.com

Also Connect with the Troops, and Month of the Military Child Arts & Crafts and Scrapbooking Extravaganza.

With a 20- year career background in product development for arts & crafts, scrapbooking and the technology education market, Linda has combined her expertise to create three Web sites, www.connectandjoin.com, www.connectwiththetroops.com, www.monthofthemilitarychild.com.  Each site offers high touch and high tech, and is serving an important need for the military family, especially the children of the deployed.

Linda developed the concepts behind Connect And Join following a slide-show presentation about a returning commander from Kosovo.  He stated simply – “that news from home…is food for the soul!” And, our soldiers, while they have the Cyber Cafes, are not always getting the news!  After 2 ½ years of research and testing, Connect And Join is now active and robust.

As a team member of America Supports You, Connect And Join has provided two resource Web sites – Connect with the Troops and Month of the Military Child.  Linda believes that in giving back – we are “saying thank you”!

April 2007 marks the launch of Connect And Join’s most recent project, ‘The Month of the Military Child’ Arts & Crafts and Scrapbooking Extravaganza.  Linda developed the month long project to show support for military children and to recognize all the sacrifices that they make on a daily basis.  The project invites crafting and scrapbooking retailers from across the country to house crafting events for military children and their friends and families during the month of April.
