For Immediate Release: April 6, 2010

This May, during the Month of the Military Spouse, military spouses from across the nation will descend on Colorado Springs to attend the inaugural Wings for Women Military Spouse Conference May 14-15 at the Cheyenne Mountain Conference Resort.

The spouses are coming from New York, New Jersey, Washington, DC, Virginia, Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas and California for two days of networking, keynote speakers and workshops for tools and resources to thrive in the military lifestyle.

Our military personnel make great sacrifices to protect our country by working long hours and spending extended periods of time away from their families to fight for our country. What many donʼt realize is the stress and strain that this puts on the military spouse. Military spouses are strong, but they canʼt bear the burden of military

life alone. The pressures of deployment, single parenting while married, tight budgets, lack of continuity and other stresses bear down on this strong womanʼs soul. There is much support for the military and the military member, but until now little has been done for the military spouse.

When Alane Pearce, an Air Force spouse, saw her husband for 120 days in two years, she realized how tough the military life can be for military spouses of all branches--especially since 9-11. So instead of fussing about thesituation, Alane decided to do something about it.

“When my husband was gone so much, I relied on my friends and my church for support--but it wasnʼt always enough,” says Pearce, the founder of Wings for Women Military Spouse Conferences. “Eventually I started having a regular coffee date with some of my military spouse friends, and I finally felt the support and

encouragement that I needed to get through such a rough time.”

That gave Alane the idea to take those coffee dates and turn them into national two-day conferences so military spouses across the nation could feel the same kind of support and encouragement. Thus, Wings for Women Military Spouse Conferences

was born.

The conference, for all military-associated women including moms and other family members, will take place at the Cheyenne Mountain Conference Center May 14-15, 2010 highlighting such nationally-known speakers as:

• Founder and Author, Alane Pearce

• PTSD Advocate, Marshele Carter Waddell

• Humorist, Cynthia Neimerichter

• Military Spouse and Speaker, Lisa Kindermann

The conference will also feature spouse and professional led breakout workshops focusing on special military issues such as:

• Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

• Surviving Deployment

• Helping Kids Cope

• Careers and Volunteering

• Marriage and Communication

• Finance Management

There will be over 100 military spouses at this year's event with a fast-growing audience in years to come--and the spouses are excited! (Check out our Facebook page: Wings for Women Military Spouse Conferences and see what they are saying.)

The women are looking forward to being with others who have walked in their shoes and learning about the tools and resources that will take them to new heights thriving as military spouses--the heroes of the homefront.

Due to business sponsorships from such companies as USAA, Pikes Peak Behavioral Health Group, Adecco, KBIQ Radio, The Cheyenne Mountain Conference Resort, Military Spouse Career Planning and others, the conference fees are affordable for military spouses; the two-day conference will only cost the military spouse $32--which includes gifts and meals. On site childcare is also available for a mere $8.50/day per child.

For more information, or to become a sponsor of this important event for military spouses, please contact Alane Pearce at 719-337-3432.
